Reflections

As this year comes to a close I would like to take a trip down memory lane.

2010 ... a year of medical craziness!

We lost baby #2 due to miscarriage very early on in January.
Work was an unkind place and felt like a hazarded to my health and sanity.

Debbie and I worked on and completed our Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University.

Matt continues to work on a Master's degree in Christian Leadership from Liberty University. He continues to do fill preaching at different churches. It continues to amaze me at how God is working in Matt's life and making him so passionate for others and leading others to Christ.

After a few months of preparing and working with a fertility doctor Matt and I attempted IVF. What an interesting experience! Filled with discomfort with the shots, egg retrieval, and embryo placement ... we never expected what happened next.

The IVF was a success! Then some strange signs started happening and we thought we were miscarrying again. When we got to 7 1/2 weeks along in our pregnancy we realized how life threatening some pregnancies can be. Tubal pregnancy and emergency surgery were necessary to save my life. Unfortunately it couldn't save my heart! It was broken! Praise God for HIS love and strength, and the strength and love from family (especially Matt). We would have never made it through on our own.

The 2010 - 2011 school year looks to be wonderful! I have a new principal and assistant principal. I have an awesome class of students! Things are progressing nicely thus far!

Thanksgiving was a blast at my parents house! The food was wonderful! The fellowship was amazing! It was great to all be together.

Matt and I did our first, and most likely last, visit to midnight at Wal-mart on Black Friday. What a mess! Bloodshed over towels!

TubaChristmas was a success in downtown Blue Ridge. Jayden was so cute dancing around while the tuba's were playing. He got so excited when the train came to town with Santa and Mrs. Claus on it. That boy is just too cute!

After a month of planning I was finally able to throw a surprise birthday party for my beloved! Following TubaChristmas the whole family met up at Mercier's. Matt walked unknowingly into a party just for him! It was so much fun to plan it and see the surprise on his face!

Finally, Christmas was here! Predictions of a white Christmas came true and we all had a blast!

The journey down the mountain was filled with complications on Christmas morning. Matt and I were in our PJ's and heading to his parents house. Only 25 minutes after it started snowing we were stuck, in true winter fashion, on the side of the road. Like a jack rabbit I was changing from my PJ's and into my jeans, slipping my feet into tennis shoes and jumping into a nice man's 4 wheel drive truck and heading the rest of the way into town.

Overall, after snowing all day Christmas day and Sunday, my parents had about 7 1/2 inches of snow while Matt's parents had right at 12 inches of snow! I never in my life thought that we would ever see 12 inches of snow in Georgia, but we did! It was AWESOME!!

Now Matt and I are going to ring in the new year with some great friends! Come on 2011!! Let's bring on a GREAT new year!!

Goals for 2011:

* Do IVF again and be fully successful - meaning a baby or two delivered sometime during 2011
* Matt get a job in a church
* Following God's path for us
* Growing more and more in our faith in Christ
* Post blogs more often and keeping everyone informed!

Happy New Year everyone!!
